FAMILY LAW ATTORNEY MICAHEL E. MICHAELIS, II

About Michael

Born in La Jolla, California, Michael moved to the Midwest as a young child. He graduated from Republic High School in Republic, Missouri in 2012. During his freshman year of college, he decided to go to law school. He graduated from Drury University in 2016 with majors in both philosophy and political science. Michael graduated from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law in 2019.

Michael married his wife, Alysha, while attending law school. The couple have 3 children together. As both a husband and father in a blended family, Michael developed the ability to empathize with clients whose family is not structured like a traditional nuclear family.

Michael began his career practicing family law. After law school, he worked as staff attorney at Legal Services of Southern Missouri. In that role, he represented survivors of domestic violence in divorce, child custody, child support, and other cases.

Michael also has extensive experience in criminal law, both as a defense attorney and as a prosecutor. As a prosecutor, he represented the state of Missouri against the accused. He has also had the privilege to defend clients in criminal cases against the virtually unlimited power of the government. Michael has both bench trial and jury trial experience, has taken witness depositions resulting in dismissals, and has succeeded in suppressing evidence the government obtained illegally, also resulting in dismissals.

Michael joined Freedman Law, P.C. as an associate attorney in 2023, and moved himself and his family to Noblesville, Indiana. Michael’s hobbies and interests include watching football and basketball. His favorite football team is the Kansas City Chiefs. His favorite basketball team is any team on which his oldest daughter is playing. He also enjoys playing tabletop games with friends and family, and recently began exploring the Indianapolis area with his wife.

Michael’s past experiences and family life have prepared him to appreciate the unique stressors applicable to family law cases. Family law cases may involve the most important people in one’s life – one’s children – or may involve painful break-ups of fundamental relationships. While it is often best to resolve matters by agreement, Michael’s professional experience as a trial attorney has equipped him with the skills needed to effectively litigate family law cases.
